Scope

This standard applies to the dimensional tolerances and fits of mechanical parts below 500 mm, and the dimensional tolerances of mechanical parts exceeding 500 mm to 3150 mm. Because the cylinder occupies a particularly important position, for the sake of simplicity, this standard uses the unified term "hole" or "shaft". The standard of "hole" applies to the space contained between two parallel planes (or tangent planes) of any part.
