Scope

This standard specifies test methods for evaluating the in vitro cytotoxicity of medical devices. These methods specify that cell culture is in direct or by diffusion (1) extraction from the device, and/or (2) contact with the device. These methods use appropriate biological parameters to detect the biological responses of mammalian cells in vitro.
