Scope
1.1 This International Standard specifies performance requirements and test methods for analog, sampled data and digitally operated filter sets or bandpass filters incorporated into spectrum analyzers. The width of the passband of the relative attenuation characteristic of a filter is constant ratio to the center frequency for all filters with equal bandwidth. Equipment meeting the requirements of this standard may be equipped with any number of bandpass filters to measure any frequency range. 1.2 Performance requirements are specified for three classes, designated class 0, class 1 and class 2. The tolerance increases as the number of classes increases. 1.3 Bandpass filters meeting the performance requirements of this standard may be part of a measurement system or an integral part of a particular piece of equipment, but must operate in real time. Performance requirements apply to all design methods selected by the manufacturer. 1.4 Equipment that complies with the requirements of this standard shall be capable of handling a wide variety of signals, such as intermittent and steady time-varying signals, broadband and discrete frequency signals, long-duration and short-duration signals. It has the ability to provide spectral information of a signal. Even though filters meet these requirements, filters with different principles may give different results when transient signals are applied. Note: The corresponding international standards for this standard are shown below. The symbols representing the degree of correspondence are IDT (matched), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) based on ISO/IEC Guide 21.
