Scope
MECHANICAL equipment is one of the major sources of sound in a building. Therefore, the sound generated by
mechanical equipment and its effects on the overall acoustical environment
in a building must be considered. Mechanical equipment
should be selected and equipment spaces designed with an emphasis
on both the intended uses of the equipment and the goal of providing
acceptable sound and vibration levels in occupied spaces of the
building in which the equipment is located.
