Scope: 1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the free glycerol and total glycerol content in B-100 biodiesel fatty acid methyl ester by gas chromatography. The detection range of free glycerol is 0.005% (mass fraction) to 0.05% (mass fraction), and the detection range of total glycerol is 0.05% (mass fraction) to 0.5% (mass fraction). This standard does not apply to the determination of free glycerol and total glycerol content in biodiesel synthesized from vegetable oils containing more lauryl glyceryl esters (such as coconut oil and palm kernel oil). 1.2 This standard uses International System of Units [SI] units. 1.3 This standard addresses certain safety issues but does not provide recommendations on all safety issues.
