This standard specifies the magnetic particle testing method for determining the acceptance limit of surface discontinuity at the request of the buyer when there is a testing procedure stipulated in the contract. This standard applies to magnetic particle testing of ferromagnetic steel castings produced by various casting methods. When the magnetic field intensity is 2.4 kA/m, if the magnetic induction intensity of steel is greater than 1T, it is ferromagnetic steel. NOTE: Like all methods of non-destructive testing, this standard forms part of an overall or specific evaluation contractually specified.
