This standard specifies two methods for determining the wear resistance of vulcanized rubber using a rotating roller device. This standard includes the measurement of the volumetric wear caused by rubbing a sample on a certain level of abrasive cloth. Method A is used for non-rotating samples, and method B is used for rotating samples. The test results are expressed in terms of volume wear or wear index relative to a certain reference glue. Note l: Due to factors such as the grade of emery cloth, the type of adhesive used to produce emery cloth, and contamination and wear in previous tests, the absolute value of wear loss will change, so all tests are relative. The comparison to a reference glue can be expressed either as a relative volumetric wear compared to a calibrated emery cloth or as a wear index compared to a reference glue. Note 2: Rotating specimens are usually used to measure wear loss. This is because during the test process, the entire friction surface of the specimen will be in contact with the abrasive cloth. However, there are also a considerable number of tests using non-rotating specimens. This standard applies to comparative testing, quality control, normative testing and arbitration purposes, research and development work. It can be inferred that the operating process is not closely related to the results of this wear test.
