1.1 This standard specifies the method for determining the molecular weight of petroleum waxes and petroleum greases using the vapor pressure osmosis method (VPO method for short). 1.2 This standard applies to paraffin, microcrystalline wax, liquid paraffin, white oil, petroleum jelly and special wax that can be dissolved by o-dichlorobenzene and toluene solvents. It does not apply to substances that are easy to associate or dissociate. 1.3 This standard includes the standard curve method and the instrument constant method. The standard curve method is only applicable to samples with molecular weight <800, and the instrument constant method is applicable to the entire measurement range. 1.4 This standard does not make recommendations on all safety issues related to use. Therefore, before using this standard, users should establish appropriate safety and protective measures and develop corresponding management systems.
