Scope: This standard applies to shunt capacitors and shunt capacitor banks installed on the AC side of HVDC converter stations to provide reactive power compensation and to filter out harmonics on the AC side and provide reactive power at a fundamental frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. AC filter capacitor and AC filter capacitor bank for power compensation. The purpose of this standard is to: a) describe uniform rules regarding performance, testing and ratings; b) describe specific safety rules; c) provide installation and operating guidelines.
