This standard specifies how to determine the degree of unsaturation in polyether polyols used as raw materials for polyurethane by microtitration. This method is based on the reaction of double bonds in polyols with mercury acetate. It cannot be applied to unsaturated compounds conjugated with carbonyl, carboxyl, or nitrile groups. The samples used for measurements must be dry and free of inorganic salts, especially halides.
