This standard specifies how to determine the moisture content of polyols used as raw materials for polyurethane. Method A is a manual amperometric titration method, and is described here to better understand the principle of Karl Fischer measurement. The amperometric titration method can be applied to a wide range of polyols whose end points can be visually observed. Method B includes both automatic amperometric and automatic coulometric titration methods. Coulometric titration is a complete method that does not require standardization of reagents and, moreover, provides more sensitive measurement results than amperometric titration.
