Scope
This standard specifies three methods for determining the total α radioactive volume activity of α radionuclides in drinking water and its source water. This Law is applicable to the determination of the total α-radioactive volume activity of α-radioactive nuclides (excluding volatile nuclides under the conditions specified in this Law) in drinking water and its source water. After extension, this method can also be used to determine the total α radioactive volume activity of saline and mineralized water, but the sensitivity is reduced. The detection limit of this method depends on many factors such as the amount of inorganic salt contained in the water sample, the counting efficiency of the counting measurement system, the background count rate, and the counting time. Under typical conditions, the detection limit of this method is 1.6X10-2Bq/L.
