This standard specifies five methods for determining the tear strength and adhesive strength of vulcanized rubber or cloth coated with or bonded to rubber or plastic. Calculate the result by reading the median and range of peak values on the adhesion graph. The recorded wavy curve of the tear force in the tear test or the adhesion force in the adhesion test shows few or many peaks, depending on the material tested. The choice of calculation method depends on the number of peaks in the linear curve (). The purpose of this standard is to further unify the evaluation and presentation of test results and is applicable only when specified in other standards. Other detailed requirements, such as test equipment, specimen collection and preparation, conditioning, and test methods, are determined by the applicable relevant standards.
