- WARNING: E. coli O157 is a pathogen that can cause serious, life-threatening illness and infection at very low doses. Laboratory-acquired infections have been reported. The entire method should only be performed by experienced personnel using Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and ideally in a controlled facility to protect the safety of laboratory personnel. Relevant health and safety regulations must be observed. Infectious materials must be handled with caution. This part of SN/T 1059 specifies the immunomagnetic bead method for the detection of E. coli O157. This section applies to food for human consumption or products used as animal feed.
