- This standard specifies the ultrasonic testing methods and quality classification of polyethylene pipe welds. This standard applies to polyethylene pipe welds, which are polyethylene pipes with an outer diameter (50~450) mm and a wall thickness (4~36) mm that comply with GB 15558.1, GB 15558.2 or other similar standards. They are welded by thermal fusion methods. Butt welds and sleeve welds formed (see Figures 1 and 2). The basic rules to be followed when applying non-destructive testing specified in GB/T 5616 apply to the standard.
