- Scope
- The purpose of this test is to determine the maximum and minimum void ratio of cohesionless soil, which is used to calculate the relative density. The maximum void ratio test uses the funnel method and simple measurement; the minimum void ratio test uses the vibration hammering method. This procedure is applicable to gravel soil with particle size less than 5 mm and free drainage.
