Scope

This standard specifies the shape and standard dimensions of hexalobular holes for bolts and screws, as well as the inspection method using gauges. The contour curve of the hexalobular hole is determined by the gauges specified in Tables 3, 4 and 5. Additional information to use when drawing contours is provided in Annex A (informative). This International Standard is intended to provide the details necessary for the inspection of hexalobular holes. It is inappropriate as a standard for product manufacturing, and is not a standard to be used for that purpose. Note: The corresponding international standards for this standard are shown below. The symbols representing the degree of correspondence are IDT (matched), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) based on ISO/IEC Guide 21.
