Scope

This standard specifies a filtering method for surfaces with deep valleys below finely finished plateaus. The reference line for contour curve paranota evaluation (hereinafter referred to as reference line) obtained by applying a JIS B 0632 filter to such a surface has valleys, which causes undesirable distortion. In order to obtain a more sufficient reference line, the influence of valleys on the reference line is removed by the filtering method specified in this standard. Note: The corresponding international standards for this standard are shown below. The symbols representing the degree of correspondence are IDT (matched), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) based on ISO/IEC Guide 21.
