Scope

This standard specifies the alkali titration method for the determination of free carbon dioxide in various waters. This standard is applicable to the determination of free carbon dioxide in coal mine industrial water, domestic water, surface water, and groundwater. This standard does not apply to the determination of free carbon dioxide in water samples with dissolved solids greater than 1000 mg/L or total hardness (calculated as Caco3) greater than 500 mg/L or containing other acidities than carbonic acidity.
