Scope
This standard applies to the examination of the homogeneity of metals, whether in the solid state, or in powder form, or in finely ground oxide materials, which are to be prepared for analysis by X-ray emission spectrometry, or for analysis by optical emission spectroscopy, or Used as reference material in both. However, the criteria for judging the qualification of standard samples must be determined in advance by the user to meet their specific needs. This standard is mainly designed for testing samples using X-ray emission spectrometry or optical emission spectrometry, or a combination of both methods. However, this rule could easily be adopted by other instrumental methods such as atomic absorption spectrophotometry. This standard can be applied to one or more elements in a sample as long as the signal-to-background ratio is not a limiting factor. This regulation covers the method of correcting for systematic or periodic (sinusoidal) drifts in the instrument over time by using a controlled reference material.
