Scope: This standard specifies the characteristics of physical photometric systems established by the CIE, which are recognized as the basis for the measurement of light. This standard defines photometric quantities, units, and standards that make up the CIE system of physical photometry and are officially recognized by the International Committee of Metrology (CIPM). These include: - definitions of photometric quantities and units; - definitions of CIE standard spectral light [optical] efficiency functions for photopic and scotopic vision; - definitions of CIE standard photometric observers that conform to these functions; - photopic vision For scotopic vision use the definition of maximum light [visual] efficacy.
