This flash point test standard is a dynamic method with a specified heating rate. Many flash point test methods, including this standard, are empirical methods. This standard is applicable to the determination of the flash point of fuel oil, lubricating oil, solvent oil and other liquids using the normally closed closed cup method. The sample volume required for the determination is 1 mL. This standard uses a closed but unsealed sample cup that introduces air into the test chamber. This standard is applicable to samples with a flash point of 10°C to 250°C. If the flash point test method specified in the user's product specifications is not this standard, neither this standard nor any other standard can replace the specified standard without obtaining comparative data and approval from the specification maker. This standard uses SI units. Values in parentheses are for reference only. This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but does not provide recommendations on all safety issues related thereto. Therefore, it is necessary to establish appropriate safety and protective measures and establish appropriate operating procedures before using the standard. See notes to Chapter 7 for specific hazard warnings.
