This test method uses high temperature and compressed air to accelerate the aging (oxidation) of asphalt. The purpose is to simulate the oxidative aging of asphalt that occurs during road use. This method cannot accurately simulate the relative rate of aging. The sample used in this method is the residue obtained from the SH/T 0736-2003 asphalt rotating film oven test method (RTFOT) test. Modified asphalt that undergoes phase separation or surface crusting under RTFOT test conditions may also experience similar situations under PAV test conditions, so this method may not be applicable to such modified asphalt. Whether this method is applicable to asphalt containing fine particles remains to be verified. This standard is used to evaluate the oxidative aging resistance of different asphalts under test temperature and pressure conditions, but it cannot explain the influence of mixture factors or the influence of asphalt on aging under actual use conditions. This standard uses SI units. This standard does not involve safety regulations related to use. It is the responsibility of the user of the standard to establish appropriate safety application procedures before use.
