Scope
This standard stipulates the method of measuring permittivity and dielectric loss factor in the frequency range of 15Hz to 300MHz, and calculates certain values, such as loss index. Some of the methods described in this standard can also be used for measurements at other frequencies. This standard applies to the measurement of liquids, fusible materials and solid materials. The test results are related to certain physical conditions, such as frequency, temperature, humidity and, in special cases, also to the electric field strength. Sometimes testing at a voltage exceeding 1000V will cause some effects that have nothing to do with the permittivity and dielectric loss factor, which will not be discussed.
