Scope
This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of bars, forgings, and stock for forging. This material has been used typically for parts, including springs, fabricated in the solution heat treated condition and subsequently precipitation heat treated, requiring higher tensile strength than is available in alpha-beta alloys, and corrosion resistance, but usage is not limited to such applications. Certain processing procedures and service conditions may cause these products to become subject to stress-corrosion cracking; SAE ARP 982 recommends practices to minimize such conditions.
