- This standard specifies the general requirements and packaging and marking requirements for surgical gauze dressings made of absorbent cotton gauze or absorbent cotton and viscose blended gauze. The surgical gauze dressings specified in this standard may be supplied sterile or non-sterile. Its varieties mainly include belly towels, gauze swabs (rolls or balls), gauze blocks, etc. This standard does not involve the requirements for the types and content of antibiotics in surgical gauze containing antibiotics.
