Scope
This part specifies the architecture, signaling protocols, label encapsulation formats, network management, and implementation requirements for edge nodes and core nodes of Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS). The signaling part only specifies the basic signaling LDP of MPLS. In order to RSVP-TE signaling, which is widely used to support QoS and traffic engineering technology, is not within the scope of this standard. This section applies to MPLS edge node equipment, MPLS intra-domain node equipment, equipment combining MPLS with specific link layer technologies, and MPLS networks.
