Scope

This standard specifies the method for non-destructive measurement of coating thickness using a β-ray backscattering instrument. It is suitable for measuring the thickness of metallic and non-metallic coatings on metallic and non-metallic substrates. Using this method, the atomic numbers or equivalent atomic numbers of the coating and the substrate should differ by an appropriate value.
