This Guidance Technical Document provides guidance on selecting appropriate statistical techniques that may be useful for an organization to establish, implement, maintain and improve a quality management system that complies with the requirements of ISO 9001. This is achieved by looking up the requirements of ISO 9001 concerning the use of quantitative data, and then identifying and expressing the statistical techniques applicable to these data. The statistical techniques listed in this technical guidance document are neither comprehensive nor detailed, and an organization should not exclude the use of other techniques (statistical or otherwise) to which it may benefit. Moreover, this guidance technical document does not intend to specify which statistical techniques must be used, nor does it make recommendations on how to apply these statistical techniques. This guidance technical document is not intended to be used for contractual, regulatory or certification/registration purposes, nor is it intended to be used as a mandatory checklist for compliance with the requirements of GB/T 19001-2000. The rationale for the use of statistical techniques by organizations is that their application should contribute to improving the effectiveness of the quality management system.
