This standard specifies test methods using gas chromatography and gas chromatography mass spectrometry for the determination of polychlorobiphenyls (hereinafter referred to as PCBs) in industrial water and factory wastewater. Notes 1. This standard covers mixtures of monochlorobiphenyl to decachlorobiphenyl. 2. Gas chromatography is a method for quantifying total PCBs, and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry is a method for quantifying PCBs in each isomer with the same number of chlorine. When determining the total PCB amount using both methods, the quantitative values may not be the same due to the characteristics of each method.
