Scope: This standard applies to internal fuses which are used to disconnect a failed capacitor element, thereby allowing the remainder of that capacitor unit and the capacitor bank to which it is connected to continue to operate. Such fuses are not intended as a substitute for switching devices such as circuit breakers or for external protection of capacitor banks or any part thereof. The purpose of this standard is to describe the requirements for performance and testing and to provide guidelines for the coordination of fuse protection.
