Scope

This standard specifies two test methods for determining the overall thickness and cover thickness of steel cord conveyor belts. Method A (thickness gauge method) is used to determine the total thickness and cover thickness of all steel cord conveyor belts. Method B (optical method) is recommended for determination of overlay thickness only. This method does not apply to wire ropes with fabric or metal transverse members or where the ends of the wire rope are twisted during cutting.
