Scope
1.1 This part of GB/T 1043 specifies the method for measuring the impact strength of simply supported beams of plastics under specified conditions. Several different types of specimens and tests are specified. Different test parameters are specified based on material type, specimen type and notch type. 1.2 This section is used to study the behavior of specified types of specimens under specified impact conditions and to evaluate the brittleness and toughness of specimens under test conditions. It can also be used to determine comparable data for similar materials. 1.3 This section has a wider application range than GB/T 1843 and can be used to test materials that are damaged due to interlaminar shear or materials that have an impact on the surface due to the environment. 1.4 This section applies to the following range of materials: ——Rigid thermoplastic molding and extrusion materials, including filled and reinforced materials, rigid thermoplastic sheets; ——Rigid thermosetting molding materials, including filled and reinforced materials Reinforced materials, rigid thermoset sheets, including laminates; ——Fiber-unidirectionally or multi-directionally reinforced thermoset and thermoplastic composites, such as felts, fabrics, textile rovings, chopped strands, composite reinforcements, twistless rovings and milled rovings Sheets (prepregs) made of broken fibers and prepreg materials, including filled and reinforced materials; ——Thermotropic liquid crystal polymer. 1.5 This section does not apply to rigid foam materials and sandwich structural materials containing foam materials. Notched specimens are generally not used for long fiber reinforced composites and thermotropic liquid crystal polymers. 1.6 This section applies to molded specimens of specified sizes and specimens machined from the middle part of standard multi-purpose specimens (see GB/T 11997), or from finished products or semi-finished products, such as molded products, Specimens machined from laminates, extruded or cast sheets. 1.7 This section specifies the preferred dimensions of test specimens. The results are not comparable when testing with specimens of different sizes and notches and specimens prepared under different conditions. Other factors, such as the energy of the pendulum, the impact speed and the state adjustment of the specimen will also affect the test results. Therefore, these factors should be carefully controlled and recorded when data comparison is required. 1.8 This section should not be used as a basis for design. However, by testing at different temperatures, changing the notch radius and/or thickness, and preparing specimens under different conditions, typical performance data of the material can be obtained.
