Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining nitrogen using the Kjeldahl method. Only negative trivalent nitrogen is quantified. Organic nitrogen in the form of azides, azines, azos, hydrazones, nitrites, nitros, nitrosos, oximes and semicarbazones cannot be determined quantitatively. Nitrogen from heterocyclic nitrogen compounds cannot be completely recovered. This method can be applied to raw water and wastewater analysis.
