Scope
This Part of BS 7371 specifies requirements for non-electrolytically applied coatings which are cured from a zinc flake dispersion in a suitable medium. Hydrogen embrittlement is not induced by the coating process. The final coatings consist principally of zinc and can incorporate an integral lubricant with controlled torque/clamping force properties (see for example BS 7371 : Part 2). This Part of BS 7371 also specifies requirements for the following: a) two grades of coating; b) quality assessment of the corrosion resistance of unused coated parts when subjected to neutral salt spray testing (see for example BS 7479); c) adhesion test.
