JIS K 0420-71-30:2000 Water quality -- Determination of the acute lethal toxicity of substances to a freshwater fish [Brachydanio rerio Hamilton-Buchanan (teleostei, Cyprinidae)] -- Part 3: Flow-through method
This standard specifies the acute toxicity and lethality of a single stable, non-volatile substance to a type of freshwater fish [Brachydanio rerio Hamilton-Buchanan (Teleostidae, Cyprinidae), commonly known as zebrafish] under certain water quality conditions. Specifies the flowing water method for measuring concentration. This method can be applied to determine the broad acute toxicity of each test substance to zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio) under the test conditions. The results obtained using this method are not sufficient to define environmental water quality standards. This method can also be applied to several other species of freshwater fish as test organisms 1). This method may be applied to other freshwater, saltwater or brackish water fish by suitably varying the test conditions, in particular the quantity and quality of the dilution water and the temperature.
