Scope

This International Standard provides guidance on the development of sampling plans, sampling techniques and principles applicable to sample handling and preservation of seawater samples from tidal waters (e.g. estuaries and tidal inlets, coastal waters and open ocean). Collection of samples for microbial and biological testing is not covered. General guidelines for sampling for microbial testing are given in ISO 8199.
