- This standard specifies the method for determining the vibration damping characteristics of materials using the cantilever beam resonance method. The measured quantities include loss factor η, Young's modulus of elasticity E, and shear modulus of elasticity G of the material. This standard applies to materials used in structural vibration, architectural acoustics and noise control. Measurements are made in the frequency range from 50Hz to 5kHz and within the effective operating temperature range of the material.
