IEC 60332-3-23:2000 Tests on electric and optical fibre cables under fire conditions - Part 3-23: Test for vertical flame spread of vertically-mounted bunched wires or cables; Category B
Parts 31, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 of GB/T 18380 specify a test method to evaluate the ability of vertically installed bundles of wires, cables or optical cables to inhibit the vertical spread of flames under specified conditions. Note: In this section the term "wires and cables" includes all insulated cables with metallic conductors used for the transmission of energy or signals. This test is used for type approval testing. See Appendix A for the selection requirements for test cables. Flame spread is determined by the extent of damage to the cable specimen. This test procedure can be used to verify the ability of a cable to inhibit the spread of flames. This part of GB/T 18380 applies to Category B. The cable is installed on the test steel ladder so that the total volume of the non-metallic material contained in the sample is 3 5 L/m. The time for offering fire is 40 mln. The cable is installed in front of a standard steel ladder. Category B is used to evaluate the volume content of medium non-metallic materials. Recommended performance requirements are given in Appendix B.
