Scope

Defines method of implementing the ISO/CCITT 7-bit coded character set for information interchange. Also describes formats of transmitted messages and supervisory, sequences as part of transmission control procedures. Applies to most data transmission systems and configurations used with DP systems. Must be considered in conjunction with ISO 1177 and 1155.
