The purpose of this standard is to provide a guideline for the safe use of medical electrical equipment to reduce the risk to patients, operators and their surroundings. In addition, the reduction of hazards also depends on the safety measures on medical electrical equipment and devices. Not all existing medical electrical equipment and facilities meet the requirements of relevant IEC standards. Sometimes, medical devices manufactured to obsolete safety standards are still in use. However, some guidelines for safe usage given in this article should still be followed wherever possible. If some special equipment or facilities do not meet the standards of our country or IEC, the user should contact the clinical engineering department or the supplier for advice on how to achieve a sufficient level of safety.
