Scope
This part is one of a series of standards covering the sampling and testing of paints, varnishes and related products. This part is a supplement to GB/T 6753.4-1998 "Determining the outflow time of paints and varnishes using an outflow standard". This standard specifies the general procedure to be followed for the determination of the dynamic viscosity of paints, varnishes and related products at shear rates from 9 000 s to 12 000 s. The measured values can give relevant information about the resistance produced by the material during brushing, spraying, roller coating and other construction processes. The method described in this section is applicable to all pigments and varnishes regardless of their Newtonian properties. Materials containing large particle dispersions will cause unrealistic results.
