Scope: Part 1 of this standard applies to the recording and playback of black-and-white and color TV signals by 8mm two-head helical scan video cassette recorders. This standard specifies the electrical and mechanical characteristics of equipment to ensure the interchangeability of recorded cassettes, including the ability to reproduce recordings made on the two types of tapes specified in Clause 2. The given requirements are related to PAL format (625 lines-50 fields) or NTSC format (525 lines-60 fields).
