Scope

This standard specifies three test methods for the determination of the tear strength of vulcanized rubber or thermoplastic rubber. Method A—pants-shaped specimen; Method 8—rectangular specimen, notched or not; Method C—crescent-shaped specimen. Tear strength is related to sample shape, tensile speed, test temperature and calendering effect of vulcanized rubber.
