This standard specifies the method for preparing and certifying reference test pieces used for indirect verification of Charpy pendulum impact testers in accordance with JIS B 7722, and the certification thereof. The dimensions of the notch test piece shown here are as specified in JIS Z 2202. However, the tolerances are tighter. By varying the chemical composition, heat treatment, or both, the desired energy level can be achieved. The reference specimens shall be graded on the reference testing machine specified herein.
