This standard specifies the minimum performance standards, test methods and required test results for marine GPS receivers based on IM0 resolution A.819(19). The receiving device determines the reception position by receiving signals from the Global Positioning System (GPS) operated by the United States Department of Defense (US DOD). The standard assumes that Selective Availability (SA) defined in the specification is applied. GPS SPS is described in the reference standard GPS SPS signal specification-USA Department of Defense-December 1993. See Table 2 for a summary of GPS SPS minimum performance standards. This receiving equipment standard can also be applied to navigation outside of “regulated waters” as defined in IMO Decision A.529 (13).
