- Scope
- This standard describes the test methods and design requirements for electrical installations used on board boats so that they can be used in explosive atmospheres without igniting the surrounding flammable atmosphere. This standard does not apply to electrical appliances of the explosion-proof type or the type of protection against explosion energy specified in IEC 79-0[1]. This standard does not cover measures to prevent ignition of products or components that may be used in hydrogen and air mixtures, nor does it cover ignition mechanisms caused by external causes such as static electricity, lightning strikes, or other factors not related to the equipment under test.
