Scope

This standard specifies the method for measuring the net power of automobile engines. This standard is applicable to the curves of net power versus rotational speed for M and N category automotive engines proposed by the manufacturer. This standard applies to reciprocating piston engines (ignition or compression ignition) or rotary engines (ignition or compression ignition), but does not include free piston engines.
