BS EN ISO 140-7:1998 Acoustics - Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements - Field measurements of impact sound insulation of floors
Measures the impact sound insulation between a pair of rooms. The steady state 1$2T$d3 octave band filtered receiving room sound pressure level is measured while a standardized tapping machine is hammering on the test floor. Determines the receiving room equivalent absorption area and derives the normalized/standardized impact sound pressure level. The results can be used to determine whether floors have met acoustic specifications , e.g. Building Regulations.
