Scope
This standard applies to technical specifications and instructions issued by flowmeter manufacturers. This standard specifies methods for expressing the performance of various flow meters used in closed pipes or open channels. This standard describes how to classify flow meters according to their level of traceability and details how manufacturers should express the traceability, quality assurance and conditions of use of flow meters, but may still be required when the flow meter is used in other situations. Note: The terms and definitions established in Chapter 3 include a large number of relevant professional terms to promote the universal application of these terms in technical specifications.
